Having an Old School Mentality & Forgetting about “the Fads”

If you want serious results, start with an “old school” approach to your training. When it comes to any aspect of working out, whether it’s dieting, training, choosing a gym or even choosing what equipment to use, having an old school mentality will be beneficial. Forget about what the latest fad is and work hard!

Hard work can make anything work.

Whatever you’re doing, work hard. Hard work will get you results, simple. I think there’s a bit of a misconception about what hard work really is when it comes to working out. I used to think that hard work was merely showing up, doing the workout and then leaving. I’d sweat, feel some pain in my muscles, breathe a bit heavier than usual, and wonder why I wasn’t seeing what I wanted to see when it came to performance and physique. 5 tips to get more “Bang for your Buck” from a workout

Here are 5 tips to help you get the most out of your workouts.

1. Have some coffee.

I don’t drink it on a regular basis but I will have it before a workout to give me a little more pep in my step. But what a lot of people don’t know is that coffee actually speeds up the fat burning process so you’re kind of getting two birds with one stone.

2. Get in the routine.

Know when and what you’re going to be training everyday ahead of time and make a routine of it. Take the “guesswork” out of your week and out of your workouts. Not knowing what you’re going to be doing next can push an intense 30 minute workout to a lackadaisical hour long workout. Read the rest of this entry »

“I wish I took better care of myself”

Those words scare the hell out of me, and in a world where there is a lot that is out of our control, this is one of the big one’s that we can influence and even prevent.

I never want to have to say those words and I never want anyone else to have to say them to someone they really care about.

Looks are a major motivation that drive a lot of us to get in shape. Our looks are something that we can see, improving our body image by shedding fat or adding muscle can have an effect us immediately by the confidence it will add, and all the benefits we’ll gain from looking and feeling better about our bodies, and it’s not something that is shallow at all.

Changing my body was the driving force behind my gaining of 30+ pounds of lean muscle and counting. That decision to change my body has had a positive effect on so many aspects of my life from relationships and business, to attitude and energy, that it’s hard to count.

But besides enhancing the quality of my life today, I know it will do the same for years to come. It will keep me around, and active, longer than I would have been had I not decided to make the change to a healthier lifestyle. And besides from benefiting the quality of my life, and how I feel about myself, it’s going to keep me in the lives of the people whom I care about infinitely more than anything else in the world, including myself. Their happiness effects me more than anything else, and I’m sure you’re the same. Read the rest of this entry »

Adjusting a program to fit YOU

Listening to your body

No program is tailored to an individual and how they are feeling on a daily basis and most programs, unless made by a trainer you’ve had for a long time, knows your schedule and how you react to different training methods, isn’t made for you the individual at all.

Now don’t get me wrong, a program is a great thing to have, actually it’s a necessity. You need to have a plan, something to follow to get to your destination, training is no different. However, you need to be a part of any program, no matter how good, to get the very best results out of it you possibly can. You may not know how to build your own program to get the results you want, but you have it within you to reshape a program you’ve purchased or been given to fit what your body is capable on any given day.
