Is Your Breakfast Killing You?

The first meal of our day has been a hot topic over the last while, especially with the rise of intermittent fasting. In the last few months I’ve done protocol’s where I have breakfast, and others where I skip it. If I have it, it usually looks like what I’m about to talk about. If I skip it, the first meal of my day will look like what I’m about to talk about anyways…

So I basically always have breakfast. It’s just that sometimes I have it a few hours after waking up. Again, depending on how my schedule is.

YOUR Breakfast

Our breakfasts are usually high in carbohydrates. Cereal’s dominate our breakfast routine because, well, they taste awesome, the boxes are great reading material, and they save parents from having to actually do something in the morning. Thus, we grow up with high sugar, low protein, and low nutritional value to start the day. Read the rest of this entry »

How to Get Ripped Forever: Intermittent Fasting

How to Get Ripped

We all want to be ripped. Success ultimately lies in finding that balance of gaining – and even maintaining muscle – while burning fat. There are a few factors in achieving this. For one, we have to get hormones like Growth Hormone and Testosterone working overdrive, while lowering levels of bad hormones like cortisol.

There are infinite dieting protocol’s that promise fat loss, but usually fail in helping us keep this fat off. And then there’s the ‘new kid on the block’: Intermittent Fasting (IF).

Intermittent Fasting (IF) is starting to gain some serious momentum in the nutrition and fitness industry. Why? Well, it makes sense both to the average Joe and the scientist, it’s easy to follow, and it’s more of a way of eating than a method of dieting.  It’s also in direct conflict with many of the ‘facts’ that trainers, nutritionists, and yes even doctors have been teaching since Moses wore short pants.

So, what is Intermittent Fasting ?

Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like: periods of fasting, followed by eating. Some protocol’s bunch the majority of your meals into cheat days, while others have you eating a couple big meals after fasting for the first part of the day. Read the rest of this entry »

Why do so few of us look the way we’d ideally want to look?

Things like genetics, hormones, training and nutrition all play a roll. But two things, above all else, determine how we’re going to look: motivation and consistency.

Consistency is often determined by our degree of motivation. Those of us who really want to change our physique usually find the least amount of excuses. The obstacles are the same, but we find our way around them.

Time never a good excuse. We make time for the important things in our life. If we’re consistent in our training and nutrition, it’s because we’ve developed a lifestyle that will lead to us achieving what we have set out to achieve.

This is true in any mission or goal. Those that want it the most usually find a way to make it happen. Another massive determining factor is building our ideal physique is the tools we have around us.

This week we’re going to look at how to make lifestyle changes that will lead to you building ripped muscle. In the next article I’m going to talk about when to eat. I’m going to cover Intermittent Fasting (IF), a way of eating that is great for fat loss and a lot easier for the ‘busy guy’ to follow because of how it’s structured in comparison to other fat loss methods of eating.

Today, it’s all about eating the right meals. Meals that both satisfy our cravings and are good for us at the same time.
