Henry Cavill Imortals

Henry Cavill did a lot of work to get in this shape for the Immortals.

You’ll see images of actors who get in amazing shape for a movie. Much is made of their transformation. Everyone wants to know what they did and how they achieved such impressive results. And then you hear about their training and the hours upon hours of hard work they put in to achieve these results. This is when people lose interest.

It’s true, there’s no substitute for hard work. Unless, of course, you compare it to smart work.

The problem with these transformations that actors go through, is that as soon as the movie is finished, they find themselves right back into their usual lifestyle. A lifestyle that is similar to a lot of our own, in that it leads to an average looking physique.

This series has been entirely about creating a lifestyle that will lead you to having a ripped physique year-round. No bulking and then cutting. We’ve gone over nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle techniques, and now we get into my favourite topic: training. Read the rest of this entry »

Part III: How to Get Ripped. Forever.

Mark Wahlberg in The Fighter has stayed in great shape for a lot of years. But how?

Ground-breaking idea: The way we look right now is because of the way we live right now.

Seems simple enough, but so many of us look for a quick fix instead of trying to tweak our lifestyle so it will help us get and keep our ideal physique. Forever. Even if we do get results with this quick fix, we soon lose them when we delve back into our usual way of living.

I’m not able to keep my ideal physique year-round because I know some amazing secret or because I take a magic powder, potion, or pill. I am able to maintain my physique because of my lifestyle. It isn’t a lifestyle of restriction. It’s one that allows me to enjoy the finer things in life while maintaining 6 pack abs year round. I eat the right things at the right time and I train hard.

This article will give you techniques to incorporate into your daily life that will help you:

  • have more energy.
  • build muscle while keeping body fat % low.
  • increase testosterone levels while lowering cortisol levels.
  • enjoy life by being able to enjoy the finer things it has to offer, but also maintaining your ideal physique. Read the rest of this entry »

Part II: How to Get Ripped. Forever.

Statue of Bruce Lee

The goal of this ‘Get Ripped‘ series is to give you strategies that both work, and are easy to follow. In order to get ripped, and stay ripped 365 days a year, there has to be alterations in our lifestyle. Dieting and following fads will always fail. But living a healthy life, and living in a way that is both fun, and easy to follow will last forever.

I’ve stayed at – or around – the same weight and same body-fat percentage for more than a couple years now, not because I live a strict life or because I have insane genetics, actually both are far from the truth. Instead I’ve figured out foods that taste great and are great for maintaining muscle, but also fat loss.

I mean, I have French Toast 4 times a week (syrup and all). I have grass fed beef burgers (no bun) with cheese, pickles, and mustard 4 or 5 times a week. I drink beer, Scotch, and smoke cigars. Yet, I’m in the best shape of my life. A miserable life filled with restriction isn’t a prerequisite for a life lived with our ideal physique.

Over this article, we’re going to go over some of the tricks I’ve incorporated in my dieting that have helped me see the results I want to see without making a ton of sacrifices in my lifestyle. We’ll also talk about some effective supplementation techniques that help us build muscle and burn fat at the same time.

So, here we go…

How to Get Ripped. Forever.

Get Ripped

Dr. Steelhammer, Wladimir Klitschko, chopping wood for his pre-fight training.

Our ideal body isn’t found in the bodybuilding magazines, or at the Mr. Olympia event. If you think about it, it’s found much more often on the football field every sunday, or the boxing ring, the octagon, or on the track. We see it in men’s fitness magazines, not bodybuilding magazines. We don’t want to bulk up way beyond our current weight, then have to cut down when ‘the season’ comes. We’d rather be in great shape year-round.

The problem we face is that the bodybuilding method of bulking and cutting dominates the internet, the magazines, and any other form of literature we can find on the subject. They teach us how to build muscle and lose fat for part of the year, but not how to stay in great shape year-round.

So how do the athletes I just mentioned stay in such great shape 365 days a year? Is there some method or theory that we can learn from them to achieve the same thing?

How to Get Bigger Biceps

Get Bigger Biceps

For many, bigger biceps = more confidence. Biceps are a very visible muscle, especially in the summer where t-shirts dominate our wardrobe and lean, vascular biceps and forearms are our cleavage. Girls see a lean, muscular set of arms and take notice. Almost in the same way guys sees a nice set of mcgee’s and has a hard time looking away (see video below).

It being winter, now is the time to start working on this muscle in preparation for t-shirt season. But how do we start building bigger biceps: through isolation? Compound exercises? How?

Well, both.

3 Unfair Facts of Life: Looks Matter

When you see Mr. Bond, you don’t see laziness or a lack of pride.

Sometimes life just ain’t fair. Good people sometimes die young, while bad people can live a long and healthy life. People judge us on our looks, as we do them – whether we’d like to admit it or not. And as much as it pains us, things don’t always work out as we’d like them to.

The key phrase is: as we’d like them to.

The following series will take a look at 3 facts of life that aren’t all that fair. But rather than complaining about them, we’ll go in to specific things we can do to change them so that they benefit us, rather than hinder us or bring us down. The first fact of life is something you may not want to agree with, but the evidence does.

Looks Do Matter

We are judged by our appearance. When some see a person who is extremely overweight, they see laziness and a lack of ambition. When others see someone who’s too skinny, they see weakness and a lack of confidence. The other side to this is that when someone is in great shape, with no one hair out of place, tanned skin, and even died hair, we see a vain human being.

The interesting part about this is that more often than not our assumptions are true. The book we are judging by it’s cover actually holds many of the characteristics we would guess they have. Not all the time, but most of the time. It’s not nice, but it’s true.
