5 Tips to Shrink Your Waistline

Rocky Marciano

1. 100% Dedication

One of the main things I’ve found with myself and clients I have worked with, is that we all have the capability to lose inches around our waste line. We start off great, maybe shedding an inch in our first week or two, then completely fall off the wagon.

We have excuses like friend’s birthdays that we had to go “all out” for. Or cravings that we just couldn’t quell. But the reality is, we all have the ability to have the body we’ve always dreamed of, the reason why most of us never see that body in the mirror is due to a lack of dedication and effort.

Whether you’re trying to build lean muscle or simply shrink your waistline, you have to be supremely dedicated if you’re going to get there.

Have a plan and stick to it word for word, none of this “as much as you can” stuff. In the grand scheme of things you’re not going to miss out on much, and the feeling you’ll get when you see a six pack in the mirror will be well worth the hard workouts and healthy eating.

Free 4-Week Vegas Workout

The last time I was in Vegas, enjoying a cigar.

So I’m going to be heading to Vegas for a few days in late September to hang out with a great group of guys who are all involved in the fitness industry – primarily the online marketing aspect of it.

We’re all heading down there for a few days of fun and to get some brainstorming done. We’re actually renting a pretty cool house, like the one from the “Ultimate Fighter” TV series so it should be a great time. Some of their names include: Vince Del Monte, Joel Marion, Dr. Kareem Samhouri, Dave Ruel, Lee Hayward, Mike Westerdal, Adam Steer, Eric Wong and Ryan Murdock – if I missed any, I apologize.

If you haven’t heard of anyone in the group I just mentioned, check them out, they all have great blog sites up that anyone can benefit from.

Anyways I figured it would be a good time to set a short term goal and reach it. I didn’t just want the goal of just “getting in better shape“, which is a pretty abstract and hard goal to measure. So my goal is to get to a lean 190 pounds within this 4-week span – and I guess we’ll see if it can be done! Right now I’m weighing about 185 pounds.

I also wanted to give the readers of this blog something free at the same time, so below is the weight lifting program I’ll be doing over the coming 4 week period.

Guide to Being a Man’s Man

Posted: August 25th, 2010 | Author: Chad Howse | Filed under: Challenge Yourself, real man | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

First, some words of wisdom from Don Corleone:

“A man who doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man.”

“It’s an old habit. I spent my whole life trying not to be careless. Women and children can afford to be careless, but not men.”

Defining what a man’s man is has become a bit more difficult over the years. It’s probably easier to talk about what a man’s man isn’t than what he is.

True masculinity has become distorted. A man’s man doesn’t beat people up to show how tough he is, however, he definitely knows how to take care of himself and defend others. He’s respected by both men and women, he can diffuse a tense situation with his mouth or fists.

He takes care of his family, takes care of his friends, and is the best he can be. He looks out for himself second, yet always takes care of his shit. He doesn’t whine, complain, wish he were someone else or in someone else’s shoes. He’s his own man and makes the most of whatever cards he’s been dealt.

Being a Warrior not a Worrier

Mr. Eastwood.

What it means to be a real man… a bit of a rant…

A couple of weeks back I did a quick little series called “Becoming a Warrior“, and it got me thinking about the makeup of a warrior from a mental standpoint.

What sets a warrior apart from everybody else?

A warrior, in my mind, is in the same category as what a real man is. A real man isn’t a complainer, he takes care of what he has to do without complaining but at the same time understands what’s important in life and enjoys it. His motivations are true to his morals and beliefs and his actions often speak louder than his words. He’s proud  but humble; a real man isn’t loud or boastful, he doesn’t talk a bit game but he sure does walk a big game.
